FEBRUARY 2005

Here we are half way through February already...
Doesn't time fly by when you are having fun...
and since the Christmas break we have all been flat out here at Davison Highley.

The best seller for the last two months has been our Fifth Avenue family of sofas and chairs. We currently have a large order for them going through the factory upholstered in a cream premium leather, and another project in a rich dark brown. Both look stunning.

We also have a 7m long, Fifth Avenue 9-seater sofa in pure white leather... and that really does look spectacular.

You can of course see many of our Fifth Avenue designs on Jeremy Vine's The Politics Show every Sunday at around midday.

We are offering a small prize for the first person to correctly identify all 6 of the DH design variants used on The Politics Show around the regions.

The bespoke workshop has also been at maximum capacity , with perhaps the most prestigious current project being to manufacture the furniture designed by Jasper Conran for his new flagship store in Sackville Street.

One of the five very varied designs that we have developed for this project is the Giraffe chair shown here.

Working to an original concept by Jasper, our own design department worked long and hard to develop a practical chair, whilst striving to achieve the feeling of awkward elegance that is the Giraffe... a creature which of course cannot possibly work, and yet is quite beautiful!

As you can see, our own mystery designers were extremely pleased with the result, but as the idea was Jasper's and not theirs, we have disguised them!

As mentioned last month, we have been undertaking a programme of continuous improvement on some of the designs in our collection.

Here is another example that we are considering.....changing the 5 star base on the NY Slipper Chair to a brushed Stainless steel trumpet base as standard.

What do you think ?

Of the other products that we have shown you in previous newsletters, the ones which have now really taken off are our solid colour glass table options.

These are, of course, available in any colour and size.

The popular choice seems to be with the Slimline Brescia arc ali leg shown here.

Again, we always  welcome your  feedback on products such as this.

(It's all very fine for us to come up with bright ideas all the time, but we do need to know if they are welcomed commercially outside of the Ivory Towers of Piddington.)
